GESTALTEN Another Japan

LIFE AND CULTURE BEYOND THE METROPOLIS

An intimate look at the resilience, creativity, and living heritage of Japan’s rural heartlands.

Moving away from familiar cityscapes and clichés, this book drifts through Japan’s smaller towns and rural regions. It follows the rhythm of seasons, local festivals, workshops, and homes shaped by everyday life. Photography and text observe rather than explain. What emerges is an open portrait of rural Japan—an ongoing approach to places in transition, marked by daily routines, quiet creativity, and enduring persistence.
